Die Tagung dient der Schärfung und Vertiefung einer Diskussion, die in einer Reihe von zeitgenössischen Wissensbereichen heiß geworden ist. Die zentrale Frage ist die nach einer Identitätskonstruktion, die genau diejenigen Begriffspaare zu vermeiden bzw. zu unterlaufen weiß, die etwa Kulturen in die einen und in die anderen gespalten hatte, aber auch Ethnien, Künste und Kontinente, Gesellschaften und Gruppen, Naturen und Religionen, Welten, Geschichte(n) und Theorien. Die aktuelle Auseinandersetzung zum Thema des Trans- oder Posthumanen bringt nach der Ankündigung der Einebnung der Natur/Kultur-Differenz auch ähnliche, damit in Zusammenhang stehende Differenzen ins Wanken – nicht zuletzt die Geschlechterdifferenz. Eine Herausforderung für die Gesellschaft der Zukunft ist die Nivellierung des Alteritätsbegriffs dort, wo nach wie vor eine starke metaphysische Begrifflichkeit zum Zwecke der Subordination und der (kolonialen, postkolonialen) Repression eingesetzt wird. Alain Badiou meinte, daß Differenz als philosophisches und logisches Prinzip das Charakteristikum des 20.Jahrhunderts gewesen sei. Ist Differenz ein Begriff, der seine Konjunktur hinter sich hat? Wenn ja, was bedeutet das für zeitgenössische Wissensmodelle? Könnte es sein, dass Differenz zwar ein logisches, nicht aber ein anthropologisches Prinzip darstellt? Hat das „zweiwertige Denken“ ausgedient? Die Tagung macht sich diejenigen philosophischen, wissenschaftlichen und künstlerischen Ansätze zum Thema, die auf Alternativen zum Begriffspaar Identität und Alterität aufbauen, aber überhaupt als Alternativen zur Paarigkeit und dualen logischen Maschinen ins Rennen gehen. Der Fokus liegt also auf Kategorien des Transitorischen, Medialen, Komplexen und Transgenerischen. Die Konferenz soll dazu beitragen, die Transversalen zu skizzieren, der entlang sich zunächst in der beginnenden Modern, fortgesetzt in der Postmoderne, die Einbrüche historischer Epistemologien ereigneten, und denen wiederum folgend es gilt, neue Begrifflichkeiten zu Bewusstsein und Leben, Körper und Medium, Raum und Kommunikation zu entwerfen. Also: wer sind wir heute?

Medinat Weimar is an art project that created a movement to promote the idea of the Jewish state in Thuringia, Germany, with the city of Weimar as its capital. The movements goal is to convince the German people to call the Jews (and anyone else who wants to be one) to gather in Thuringia, a post-industrial area emptying more every year, and found there another Jewish state. One that would not only satisfy the need for a secure Jewish home, appease the Palestinian Israeli conflict, help the German with coming to terms with the past, but would also save Thuringia from its own bleak future. In the lecture Eidelman, the Movements’ secretary, will present the Movement, explain the political and artistic context it was born in, as well as show other art projects he has created in the past that are related to the movement.

Ronen Eidelman is an artist, writer and activist engaged with linking art, culture and grassroots politics. Participated in many exhibitions and festivals, as well as creating independent projects in the public sphere. Born in New York City, grew up in Jerusalem and based in Tel Aviv-Jaffa, Israel, Co-founder and editor of “Ma’arav”
(www.maarav.org.il) leading online art and culture magazine from Israel.
Graduate of the MFA program for “Public Art and New Artistic Strategies’
at Bauhaus University in Weimar, Germany, and for more than ten years active in anti-occupation and anti-capitalist activists groups. Ronen likes hats and enjoys wearing many kinds.

Israel & Palestine become OneState

First international opening of the Embassy in Vienna, 29/09/09

OneState Ambassadors Tal Adler & Osama Zatar will announce the opening of the Embassy in the MQ in Vienna, at studio 613, with a press conference and a diplomatic performance. The event will be streamed online and projected simultaneously in a few locations in OneState (previously known as Palestine and Israel).
